Entrepreneurship Development Program – Second Batch



Second batch of “Training of Trainer” program under the “Entrepreneurship Development Program” has started. Thirty nine participants completed their training in the first batch.

“Training of Trainer” initiative is organized by DIT&E through Webel Informatics Limited (WIL). Objective is to train franchisee partners nominated by WIL on various aspects of Entrepreneurship spanning from building a team, developing business strategy, raising investment to adhering to legal compliances.

These trainers are expected to take the course in their respective areas and impart similar training to existing and aspirant entrepreneurs.

Whole initiative ties up with the vision of making youth of the State more aware of the startup ecosystem and of the skills required to establish and scale technology related businesses.
The trainers would be provided with curated content and study material which they can leverage and customize to the needs of their students.

First batch of “training the trainer” program had concluded with the participants highly motivated to take the course to their respective areas in a mission mode and create new business models in association with the entrepreneurs in their network

Cyber Security at Centre of Excellence (CoE)


Empowered Committee for Cyber Security Centre of Excellence met for second time to discuss on the progress till date and future road map.

Meeting was chaired by Shri Debashis Sen, ACS – DIT&E, Government of West Bengal, and was attended by Senior Officers from Police, CDAC, CERT-IN, PAR & e-Governance Departments, private players in Security and other eminent experts.

Emphasis was given on skill building in Cyber Security, Cyber Awareness and Cyber Assurance. Experts and academic institutes would be consulted to design relevant courses for students and working professionals.

Department of Information Technology & Electronics, Government of West Bengal would be taking multiple initiatives to enhance citizen awareness on Cyber Security. A workshop is being planned to spread awareness of IT Security threats and ways to deal with it.

Agencies already empanelled with CERT-IN may be considered for some of the planned activities thereby reducing time lag in implementing Cyber Security roadmap

Train the Trainer Program


Department of IT & Electronics, Government of West Bengal is committed to encourage Tech based entrepreneurial ecosystem in the State. Technology SMEs are considered as important source of innovation and employment generation. With this context it was envisioned that aspirant tech-entrepreneurs across the state should be better equipped with fundamentals of starting and scaling businesses. To achieve this, a five day “Train the Trainer” program has been designed for about 140 training partners of Webel Informatics Limited (WIL). During the program, the participants would be attending sessions on business strategy, marketing,  fundraising, people management, compliance etc as well as benefit from experience of Industry mentors. These participants in turn are expected to deliver training to interested entrepreneurs in their respective areas. About 20,000 Bengal based startup aspirants are expected to benefit from this initiative in the next one year.

The event was inaugurated by Shri Bratya Basu Hon’ble Minister-in–charge, Department of IT&E. Shri Debashis Sen Addl Chief Secretary, DIT&E, Govt. of West Bengal and Shri Kaushik Halder Commissioner DIT&E and MD, WBEIDC also addressed the gathering. Senior officers of IT&E Department and WEBEL, representatives of industry bodies such as NASSCOM, BCC&I, ASSOCHAM were also present on the occasion.
